Most people think that health insurance implies great expenses. While there is some truth in this, you need to understand it is the healthcare that makes the insurance expensive. There are different ways on how you can cut down the cost of the health plan for your convenience. This is according to Kirby Horton of Preferred Health Group, Inc.

There are many different types of health insurance. The two major types of health insurance are individual plans and group plans. Basically these two differ in terms of insurance policies that they cover. Generally, group health insurance plans cover more healthcare expenses than individual plans. Preferred Health Group has developed a sizeable catalog of information regarding these different programs. Aside from that, individual insurance offers a more limited coverage plan compared to the group insurance. So between the two, it is the group insurance which offers a wider scope in terms of health coverage. A lot of employers offer group health insurance coverage in order to provide their employees with healthcare when they need it. This means that the employees get the full benefit of immediate treatment that they really need. These plans also provide prescription program.

If you are shopping for Iowa group health insurance, you must understand that the state implements some basics that will allow the consumers to find the right healthcare insurance plan for them. Most of the policies in this state are guaranteed renewable. This only implies that you cannot lose the insurance coverage when you get ill.

If you have the option, you are much better off going with a group plan instead of an individual insurance plan. Florida group insurance is said to be much reasonably priced compared to the individual plan. The best thing to do is contact an insurance agent that specializes in health insurance.

Group Health Plans are often found with employers that have a number of people as their employees. These are commonly part of the benefits that their workers are entitled to. It is however an option for the employer to choose the specific plans that they feel that they can afford and would be content with.

Certain items will be covered and some things won’t be; it just depends on what was agreed to at the time the policy was bought. There are some extensive plans that provide unconventional services such as coverage for convalescent care and rehabilitation. However, the most common plans only provide services that are provided within the hospital not necessarily including major surgery. Just about all plans include physician office visits.

Teresa was a thirty-eight-year-old graphic designer who realized that she had a drinking problem. For instance, within the past five months she has felt the need to have several drinks before going to work, four months ago she tested positive for a hair alcohol test at her place of employment, six weeks ago she got pulled over by the police for a DUI, and last but not least, for the last seven months she has started to forget what she does and says when she drinks.

Similar to multitudes of other people, Teresa’s alcohol involvement began at a “snail’s pace” and stayed at this speed for quite a long period of time because sometimes she engaged in intermittent social drinking. In reality, for around seven months, every time she went out with her coworkers to drink, she made sure to drink in moderation. Something about her drinking situation, however, seemed to fundamentally change when her husband divorced her.

In Order To Get Beyond the Loss of Her Husband In a More Pain Free Manner, Teresa Came to the Conclusion That She Will Begin Hanging Out More Routinely With Some of Her Buddies Who Love to Drink

Teresa got extremely disheartened about the divorce from her husband, and as a way to refrain from dwelling on her dismal emotions she came to a decision that she would begin associating more routinely with some of her friends who love to ”get down” and drink.

Quite frankly, Teresa believed that having fun just about every day by drinking with her buddies would help her get beyond the loss of her husband in a less painful manner.

Teresa’s Drinking Escalates Greatly the More Often She Goes to Private Parties, Dinner Dates, Family Get-Togethers, Sporting Events, and Happy Hours With Her Pals

It didn’t take too long, nonetheless, before her drinking escalated considerably the more often she went to and drank at private parties, happy hours, family get-togethers, dinner dates, and sporting events with her friends. In addition, the fact that her drinking pals were all quite a few years younger than she was and therefore able to drink more frequently and harder was one of the reasons why she didn’t direct more of her attention to her increased drinking. To put it briefly, she was drinking and having tons of fun just like everybody else in her group of buddies without giving too much thought to the unhealthy consequences of her irresponsible and excessive drinking.

Yet someplace in her brain she knew that she most probably required alcohol counseling but steered clear of the thought as much as humanly possible.

Teresa Gets a Physical, Acknowledges Her Abusive and Hazardous Drinking to Her Doctor, and Admits Her Melancholy

One late afternoon during her twelve month physical examination, her healthcare professional asked her if she drank alcohol. Not wanting to tell falsehoods to her doctor, Teresa owned up to the fact that she commonly drinks more than she should. In truth, she articulated that she frequently drinks in an abusive and excessive manner. Then Teresa informed her doctor about her dejection. More plainly, she articulated that shattered relationships usually started a depressing cycle of events typified by increased drinking which further resulted in more dismal feelings that, in turn, resulted in even more drinking. And this is specifically what happened when her husband and she got divorced eleven months ago.

When her physician heard this, he told Teresa that according to various alcoholism facts and statistics on alcoholism he was exploring, alcoholism and depression many times happen in the same person. He then informed Teresa that some of the alcohol statistics, research investigations, and facts he has been reading about also point out that individuals who drink in an abusive and hazardous manner and who also experience depression need to obtain treatment for both medical conditions.

Teresa’s Healthcare Practitioner Makes an Appointment for a Psychological Appraisal and For an Alcohol Addiction and Alcohol Abuse Appraisal

Teresa’s doctor then stated the following: “I am not trying to make a spur-of-the-moment diagnosis, but with your medical condition we may be dealing with two separate concerns. As a consequence, I think we probably should schedule an appointment for you to get an alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse evaluation from my partner, Dr. Ballas, who is a drug and alcohol addiction specialist. Whether your drinking problem is more correlated with alcohol abuse or alcohol dependency is unknown at this time, but I feel that further exploration is warranted. Then I believe we need to schedule an appointment for you to get a psychological examination from another one of my partners, Dr. Rossi, who is a psychologist. I want to get a better handle on your dejection and see how much your depression and drinking are interlinked.” Teresa displayed her agreement with her healthcare practitioner’s strategy and thanked him for his help. Now all she had to do was to try to decrease her drinking and get ready for her appointments.

Jennifer is a forty-one-year-old paralegal who has been drinking in an irresponsible and abusive manner since her boyfriend and she broke up. In actual fact, for the past eight months she has been drinking just about one-and-a-half bottles of wine every night, and on the weekends she also has been drinking a number bottles of beer during the day. In a word, Jennifer has been drinking so abusively that it’s a miracle that she hasn’t suffered from alcohol poisoning.

After feeling discouraged because she was beginning to close her eyes to her health, Jennifer at long last told herself that enough is enough, that it’s time to quit the self pity act, that it’s time to quit the hazardous and irresponsible drinking, and time to move on with her life. So the following Saturday morning at 9:00 AM, she came to a decision that she would stop drinking completely and suddenly without preparation or planning.

When She Attempted to Stop Drinking She Felt Sick, She Started to Sweat Profusely, She Was Extremely Nervous and Moody, Her Head Was Pounding, She Vomited Numerous Times, and She Had Utterly No Appetite

When Jennifer quit drinking, she assumed that she would most likely be tempted to sneak a few drinks, but she never believed that she would feel so horrific. More precisely, about two-and-a-half hours after she stopped drinking, she had absolutely no appetite, she vomited a number of times, she was extremely moody and tense, she started to sweat profusely, and her head was pounding.

When she called her best pal and informed her that she had stopped drinking and that after a few hours she all of a sudden started to experience flu-like symptoms, Jessica, her best buddy, told Jennifer to call her healthcare practitioner and discuss what was taking place.

She Admits to Her Family Doctor That She Has Been Drinking In an Abusive Manner, That She Just Tried to Stop Drinking, and That She is Going Through Extremely Unpleasant Flu-Like Symptoms

So Jennifer called her healthcare practitioner, told him that she has been drinking in an abusive and excessive manner for more than a few months and that when she honestly tried to suddenly stop drinking earlier in the day, within a few hours she felt as if she had the most ghastly flu-like symptoms that she had ever suffered through.

Her healthcare professional informed her that she may be going through symptoms of alcohol withdrawal and that she should have a family member or friend take her to the emergency room as soon as possible.

As soon as Jennifer got off the phone, she got a neighbor to take her to the emergency room. Interestingly, all the way to the hospital, as sick as Jennifer felt, the only thing she could think about was whether or not she might be an alcoholic.

It appears that her family doctor had called ahead and told the emergency room treatment team to expect Jennifer because when she got to the hospital, she was met by two ER workers who promptly told her to get in the wheelchair they had with them. After getting transferred to the emergency room and undergoing a couple of necessary tests, it was validated that Jennifer was in truth going through alcohol withdrawal symptoms and was in need of alcohol detoxification.

A doctor administered some drugs to reduce her flu-like symptoms and also gave her some medications to help eliminate the alcohol that was still in her circulation system.

A Substance Abuse and Alcohol Abuse Healthcare Practitioner Goes Over the Fact That She is Alcohol Dependent and Then Goes Over What Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms and Alcohol Dependency Stages Are

After two or three hours, Jennifer was removed from the emergency room and transported to the recovery room. After she was in recovery for nearly two-and-a-half hours, Doctor Brill, an alcohol and drug addiction specialist, came to see her. He took his time and explained in plain words that Jennifer had suffered through alcohol withdrawal symptoms when she stopped drinking because she had become dependent on alcohol.

He then mentioned the fact that with repeated and excessive drinking, the person’s brain little by little gets acclimated to the alcohol so that it can function in a “semi-normal” manner. When the drinker then abruptly refrains from drinking, it can be pointed out, the brain responds by bringing forth alcohol withdrawal symptoms. What is more, her doctor also went over the various alcoholism stages that an individual who is alcohol dependent commonly goes through as the disease gets progressively worse as time goes by.

It is Determined that Jennifer is in the Earliest Stage of Alcohol Dependency and She Receives a Good Diagnosis For a Total Recovery if She Gets the Alcohol Addiction Treatment She Requires

Fortunately for Jennifer, it was discovered that she was in the first stage of alcoholism and, as a consequence, she was given a good forecast for a total recovery if she obtains the alcohol dependency treatment she requires.

Jennifer told the physician that she will do whatever it takes to get sober and to recover her life and her health. She also mentioned that she has an outstanding hospitalization policy that will probably pay for most of the costs required for rehab. It was obvious that Jennifer was extremely pleased with her optimistic prognosis and felt at peace knowing that she will be able to get the alcohol rehab she needs so that she can begin the road to recovery.

For more than a few years alcoholism research has revealed the fact that there is strong association between alcohol dependency and life-threatening health conditions.

As an illustration, in 2005, medical investigation and alcohol abuse and alcoholism statistics showed that alcohol abuse and alcoholism cost the United States an estimated $220 billion on an annual basis. It can be stressed that this considerable alcohol-related cash outlay was substantially more than the cost linked with cancer ($196 billion) or with obesity ($133 billion). While it is relevant to highlight these facts, it is also noteworthy to highlight the fact that an interrelationship exists between all three of these health conditions.

More explicitly, chronic alcohol abuse and alcohol dependency are also highly associated with obesity and with cancer.

To be sure, substance abuse research has revealed that alcohol addiction can increase the risk for various forms of cancer, especially cancer of the voice box (larynx), esophagus, liver, rectum, colon, kidneys, and throat. Excessive and repetitive drinking can also lead to immune system problems and harm to the fetus during pregnancy.

Heavy and Irresponsible Drinking Enfeebles the Person’s Organs and Systems

Furthermore, if alcohol addiction continues over a period of years, the individual’s body organs will likely be affected in a negative manner. As an illustration, long-term, hazardous drinking is especially damaging to the liver due to the fact that the liver does most of the work of processing the alcohol that has been ingested. Excessive amounts of alcohol kills liver cells and obliterates the ability of liver cells to redevelop. This condition results in a progressive inflammatory malfunction of the liver that can ultimately lead to cirrhosis of the liver, a critical and potentially deadly disease.Excessive, long-term drinking not only can result in severe liver damage, but it can also lead to damage to the heart and to the brain. Physical damage this critical may be irreparable and may, in turn, lead to serious ill health or an untimely death.

The Critical Nature of Alcohol Rehab

It is important, therefore, to know how to recognize the different alcoholism symptoms and the “alcohol signs” so that the alcohol dependent person can be given the opportunity to seek the quality alcohol treatment he or she requires.

Alcoholism and Technologically Advanced Brain Research

Fortuitously, scientific exploration is continuously generating new and important information. Recent alcoholism research supplies an excellent example. More precisely, for approximately the past ten years, technologically advanced brain-imaging scanning devices have verified that continuous and long-term irresponsible drinking alters the constitution of the brain to a great extent, as a consequence resulting in brain disease that can last months, years, or perchance as long as the individual exists.

Stated another way, medical investigation has shown that individuals who have been drinking excessively for a sizeable length of time increase their risk for developing lasting and significant modifications in the brain.

This type of damage may be indirectly associated with the drinker’s poor overall health or directly related to the alcohol’s effects on the brain or to severe liver disease.

Abusive Drinking, Malnutrition, and Mental Disorders

As a final example of various medical problems that are considerably related to alcohol addiction, take into account the fact that according to medical research, the excessive and repeated abuse of alcohol can lead to erosive gastritis, a medical condition that diminishes the absorption of minerals, nutrients, and vitamins.

This form of organ failure is linked to malnutrition and to a variety of serious mental and neurological syndromes including memory loss, sleep disturbances, and psychosis such as Wernicke’s Encephalopathy and Korsakoff’s syndrome. This latter health problem is a long lasting debilitating health problem that is characterized by repetitive learning and memory difficulties.

Conclusion

It is clear that continued, hazardous drinking is directly or indirectly correlated with a number of dangerous medical conditions that can and do result in serious ailments and premature death. Such information needs to be emphasized and presented to everyone in our society so that most individuals will be able to abstain from irresponsible drinking while other individuals who have a drinking problem will get the quality therapy they need.

When I was a sophomore in high school, I enrolled into a drug abuse class. At that time, I did not comprehend that alcohol abuse in point of fact was a sub division of drug abuse. While taking this class and learning more about drug and alcohol abuse and especially about alcohol side effects, I read a lot about Alcoholic Anonymous, their meetings, how their programs have twelve steps, and how successful the Alcoholics Anonymous recovery program has been for people all over the world. I also learned a lot about alcohol rehabilitation and the various alcohol rehab clinics that are normally available to individuals who engage in excessive drinking.

Dangerous End Results That are Correlated With Alcohol Dependency and Alcohol Abuse

Some of the dangerous effects related to alcoholism and alcohol abuse that I learned about in this class without a doubt startled me. The ruined lives and frequent serious issues experienced by most alcohol addicted people made me feel like I never wanted to drink alcohol when I became old enough. Stated briefly, I did not want to face the damage and ruination that alcohol dependent people almost always experience.

Ponder upon this for a moment. What fifteen-year-old individual wants to face premature death due to his or her drinking behavior? What adolescent wants to become so out-of-control regarding his or her drinking that ingesting alcohol becomes the object of one’s life? What young person wants to go to one of the local alcoholic rehabilitation centers to deal with alcohol-related difficulties before he or she becomes twenty-one?

What teenager wants to deal with alcohol withdrawals when he or she tries to quit drinking? Why would an individual engage in drinking to such an extent that it would cause difficulties in every area of his or her life? Drinking later in life after an individual has a career, a family, and develops personal responsibilities makes sense. But why would an adolescent want to sacrifice his or her education, employment, finances, and relationships for a life that centers on hazardous drinking?

These issues were so noteworthy that I discussed some of them in class during the school year. What was downright unbelievable to me was the number of students who basically didn’t care about the negative effects of abusive drinking that I discussed. It was almost as if they couldn’t care less about the facts and how these consequences can destroy their lives. For the first time in my life I started to understand a saying that my grandfather used to say to me throughout my younger years: you can lead a horse to water but you can’t force it to drink.

It’s Important, Energizing, and Beneficial to Keep Yourself From the Debilitating and Unhealthy End Results of Drug and Alcohol Abuse

And even at my young age, I also began to realize how beneficial, liberating, and important it is in life to keep yourself from the debilitating and unhealthy results of drug and alcohol abuse.

Jeffrey was a high school freshman who typically seemed to be living on the edge. Jeffrey had a risk taking personality and usually wanted to do what his older brothers were doing. The underlying drawback with this was that all three of his brothers were at least 21 years old and were consequently able from a legal standpoint to drive a vehicle and to ingest alcohol.

Jeffrey, however, had a tough time accepting the reality that as a fifteen-year-old teenager he should not be drinking alcoholic beverages. In fact, in spite of this, Jeffrey normally drank with his cronies after school, largely on the weekends.

One weekend, Jeffrey was invited to drive around with some of his older buddies. One of his friends was old enough to buy alcohol. After buying some beer, wine coolers, and wine, Jeffrey and his friends went to a park and drank for something like two or three hours.

A Young Man Loses Consciousness

After drinking roughly ten alcoholic benerages, Jeffrey started to feel nauseous and then threw up. When he lost consciousness on the basketball court, one of his pals called 911 for assistance. It was fortunate that the call for emergency help was made because when his guy friends went to the hospital to see Jeffrey, they were notified that Jeffrey had been going through alcohol poisoning symptoms. More specifically, Jeffrey had overdosed on alcohol.

When Your Friends Drink Excessively

Jeffrey had learned that drinking in a hazardous manner can lead to an alcohol overdose but he never thought that this would happen to him. After all, some of his friends recurrently bragged that they could drink twenty or more cans of beer in a day without suffering from any major difficulties.

Based on this, Jeffrey was quite astonished to gather that he had overdosed on alcohol because he “only” had more or less ten alcoholic beverages. When he explained this to the attending physicain at the hospital, in spite of this, the doctor notified Jeffrey that drinking ten wine coolers over a two or three hour period of time could in reality be substantially more alcohol than can be metabolized by the body. The physicain further explained how excessive alcohol can cause the brain to shut down a person’s respiratory system and that when this happens, a person can perish.

The First Sign of Hazardous Drinking

This was the first forewarning to Jeffrey that he was drinking in an unsafe fashion and that there are consequences for such actions. The healthcare professional told Jeffrey that he was a fortunate person because he almost perished from an alcohol overdose the previous night.

The doctor also had a word with Jeffrey’s parents and suggested that they get alcohol rehabilitation for Jeffrey. His parents were jubilant that Jeffrey was safe and notified the doctor that they would get Jeffrey alcohol counseling.

While chatting with his parents, Jeffrey told them that there must be a special reason why he did not perish and that he felt grateful that he was still alive. He also told his parents that the odd part about the entire drinking occurrence was that he had learned about alcohol poisoning the last six week grading period in Mr. Franklin’s health class.

When Listening in Class Can Affect Your Life

At the time, what his health instructor, Mr. Franklin, was articulating didn’t seem to make too much sense to Jeffrey. Due to the fact that he almost passed away, then again, he felt that he should have listened more closely in Mr. Franklin’s health class and applied what he had learned to his personal life.

Jeffrey notified his parents that he couldn’t wait to go back to the classroom and make an apology to Mr. Franklin for not paying more attention to something that was as noteworthy as learning about alcohol abuse and how to keep away from an alcohol overdose.

His parents smiled at Jeffrey and said that they were pleased with the way he was being responsible for his risky actions. All he had to do now was to let this almost deadly experience impact his life in a productive way so that he would never again experience an alcohol overdose.

It is interesting to articulate something that family members who have been negatively affected by the alcohol dependency of another family member obviously do not understand. It appears that by protecting the alcohol dependent person with untruths and deceit to those outside the family, these well-intentioned family members have in actual fact created a situation that makes it easier for the alcohol dependent individual to persist and advance with his or her hurtful, detrimental way of living.

Clearly, instead of helping the alcohol dependent individual and themselves, these family members have in reality become enablers who have inadvertently helped negatively affect the alcohol addicted person’s drinking problem even more.

Perhaps the real downside of this is that the alcohol addicted individual will continue drinking in an abusive and irresponsible manner and experience diverse “alcohol side effects.” Some of these side effects include employment difficulties, legal issues (such as getting arrested for one or more DWIs), ill health, deteriorating relationships, serious financial problems, and diminished mental functioning.

Relapses Can and Do Happen

According to the research literature and statistics on alcohol addiction, another key alcohol addiction issue involves alcohol relapses. Relapses take place when an alcohol dependent individual has successfully undergone alcoholism treatment and then resorts to drinking a number of weeks or months later. At first glance, this predicament flies in the face of sound thinking and sounds so doubtful that it forces one to speculate why anyone who has gone through the dejection of alcoholism can return to drinking a short while after successful alcohol therapy and in turn after attaining sobriety. There are, for sure, more than a few rational reasons for this.

It should be mentioned, nonetheless that alcohol dependency research that has focused on the long-term effects of alcohol dependency has shown that long after the alcoholic has stopped his or her drinking, fundamental alterations in the way in which the alcohol addicted person’s brain functions are still present. As a consequence, all a recovering alcohol addicted individual has to do to involve himself or herself in behaviors that correspond with the modifications that have taken place in the brain is to start drinking once again.

The Need for A Fundamental Lifestyle Transformation

There are additional reasons why more than a few recovering alcohol dependent individuals return to drinking a few weeks or a few months after reaching sobriety. In accordance to the alcohol dependency research literature, to make a successful recovery, the alcohol dependent person needs new ways of reacting and thinking in order to deal more successfully with difficult alcohol-related situations that will take place.

Conditions such as returning to the same alcohol addictive environment or to the same geographic location; interacting once again with friends from the days when the alcohol dependent individual was drinking abusively; or familiar songs, smells, or activities—all of these situations can bring about memories that can set off psychological anxiety or push hot buttons that influence the recovering alcohol dependent person to engage in excessive drinking once again. Unfortunately, all of these situations may not only counteract ongoing sobriety for the alcohol addicted individual but they can also result in relapse and consequently negate one’s sobriety.

The Good News: There’s a Lot of Hope for Lasting Sobriety

In an attempt to “protect” the family alcohol dependent person, family members can in point of fact cause inadvertent harm by enabling the harmful drinking behavior of the alcohol dependent person.

The substance abuse research literature validates the fact that most individuals who effectively complete alcohol treatment experience at least one relapse. Alcohol dependent individuals and their family members need to know this so that they do not get defeated or beleaguered when a relapse manifests itself.

Happily, involvement in support groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous and follow-up treatment and education have resulted in more productive, enduring alcohol abuse and alcoholism treatment results, have helped decrease alcohol relapses, and have helped recovering alcohol addicted individuals accomplish lasting alcohol recovery.

How do you recognize that you have a problem with your drinking? When is it obvious that you are involving yourself in alcohol abuse?

If you have unsuccessfully made an effort to discontinue your drinking or if you promised yourself that your drinking days are over and then you realized that you were drinking in an excessive manner just a few days later, the probability is very good that you have a drinking problem. The major point of emphasis is that if you have tried to stop drinking and cannot complete the task, then your drinking is controlling you, instead of the other way around.

In a similar manner, if it takes increasingly more amounts of alcohol to get the same “high,” more likely than not you need to become aware that you have a problem with your drinking.

You may be telling yourself that the rationale for your drinking is so that you can reduce your stress or get rid of the sorrow that you feel. In much the same way, you may be trying to steer clear of a harmful circumstance and may be looking for something more useful, more favorable, or less sorrowful.

As you keep on drinking, on the other hand, you will grasp the fact that drinking does not produce the same high and you will also become aware that drinking doesn’t help eradicate whatever brought about your distress in the first place.

As you continue to drink in an abusive manner, regrettably, you may become an alcoholic and, as a consequence, you may add another critical predicament to deal with rather than discovering more efficient and beneficial ways of managing your alcohol-related difficulties.

When an Alcohol Evaluation is Required

If you have decided that you have a problem with your drinking, perhaps the healthiest thing you can do for yourself is to call your physician or healthcare practitioner and schedule an appointment for a complete physical and for an evaluation of your drinking situation.

If you actually believe that you have a dangerous problem with your drinking, it might be a good idea to get prepared to find out that you need to get alcohol therapy.

At this point in your life, what are your options? You can unquestionably refuse to see your doctor and continue your pattern of abusive drinking.

It actually doesn’t take a wiz kid, however, to have a handle on the fact that long-term, abusive drinking, if left untreated, will worsen over time and most likely bring about an early death. For that reason, your most practical choice is to confront your drinking problem and get the alcohol counseling you need.

The Deceit of the Functioning Alcoholic

It is ironic to note the fact that multitudes of people who are addicted to alcohol lead busy and active lives and have houses, pets, families, vehicles, jobs, and any number of material possessions just like individuals who are not addicted to alcohol.

Many of these “functional” alcohol addicted individuals may have never been apprehended for a DUI and may have been fortunate enough to avoid all alcohol induced legal problems. In spite of this fortunate circumstance, to the contrary, these alcohol addicted individuals need to drink in order to operate on a day by day basis while sustaining their facade as they interact with people outside their family.

Ask anyone who has seen them when they are engaging in one of their drinking binges or in a drunken stupor or ask a family member about the problem drinker’s alcohol addiction, then again, and they will be quick to affirm the truth of the drinker’s situation and the details about the alcohol dependent individual’s drinking condition and about his or her alcohol induced difficulties.

Why Do People Addicted to Alcohol Fail to Deal With Their Drinking Difficulties?

As alcohol addiction research and statistics on alcohol abuse have stressed, no matter how observable the alcohol induced predicaments seem to those who interact with the alcoholic, alcohol addicted people frequently deny that drinking is the cause of their alcohol induced issues. Not only this, but alcohol dependent individuals usually blame their alcohol-related issues on other people or upon other situations around them rather than seeing their part in the problem.

The root of the predicament is that alcoholism is a disease of the brain. Once the individual has become dependent on alcohol, he or she commonly resorts to denial, manipulation, and deceit as a way of dealing with the fact that his or her drinking is out of control. And to make matters more problematic, the experience of alcohol withdrawal symptoms commonly circumvents the alcohol addicted individual’s rare attempts to abruptly quit drinking. As bleak as the alcoholic’s existence is, nonetheless, the encouraging news is that professional help is typically available – if the alcohol addicted individual reaches out and tries to get alcohol treatment.

Conclusion

Conceding the fact that drinking is causing difficulties in your daily functioning is perhaps the simplest way to find out if you have a drinking problem. Stated differently, if your drinking is triggering issues with your health, with your employment, in your relationships, with your finances, at school, or with the law, then you have a drinking problem that needs to be addressed.

If you have a drinking problem, additionally, this means that you are getting involved with irresponsible drinking.
